The Southwest Brunswick Newcomers Club will hold its first fall meeting, 10 a.m.-noon Sept. 14 at the Sea Trail Plantation Conference Center, 75 Clubhouse Road. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for new members to join and for all members to sign up for scheduled recurring activities. The speakers will be Marie Knapik, education coordinator for the Museum of Coastal Carolina, Ocean Isle Beach, Katherine Hunt has been affiliated with the Ocean Isle Museum Foundation as the education outreach coordinator.
Knapik is responsible for planning and developing programs, updating and creating new exhibits, and training staff and volunteers. She will provide highlights of museum exhibits, programs and her interesting insight relative to the unique beach environment we all call home.
Hunt has a B.S. degree in Science Literacy and devotes much of her professional expertise to the Ingram Planetarium, Sunset Beach leading scientific discussions and presenting astronomy related topics. Hunt will describe current programs, exhibits and major upgrades planned this year for the planetarium and its featured laser show.
Brunswick singles and couples are welcome to attend. The cost to join is $10 per person, with meetings scheduled for the second Thursday of the month from September 2017 through May 2018. For more information, visit www.swbnc.org or call 910-575-1109.
